Mathematical sequences, geometry, precision and systems form the foundations of my practice. With a focus on embroidery, I combine other technologies and processes, such as laser cutting and Computer Aided Design, to create intricate and complex repeating patterns. The integration of technology onto my creative practice allows me to seamlessly work between different software such as Ethos Laser Cut, Wilcom Embroidery and Photoshop to create tactile geometric designs. These processes make the fullest use of the materials and minimise waste. Sustainability is an important factor in my material choice. I work with a selection of repurposed or readily available fabrics. I use natural fabric such as cottons and linens for their versatility and durability. Then add contrast by using excess car interior upholstery fabric, to create depth of texture to the surface quality. The constraints and restrictions of lockdown and Brexit have stimulated my creativity and inventiveness. These limitations have motivated me to create innovative intricate patterns by embracing multiple and diverse platforms of technologies and materials.
