Bold, bright and busy are defining aspects of my work. By layering contrasting colours, varying sizes of shapes and marks, I play with elements abstracted from my sketchbook. When playing with space I tend to compare busy and quiet areas within my mark making which then allows me to experiment with disrupted patterns and composition. I create many eye-catching effects that portray a lively atmosphere within my work, with the aim to produce a positive mood and setting. Inspiration come from everyday patterns and emotions. As colour is so emotive it forms a strong focal point within my design process, and I combine embroidery and print to create textile designs for fashion. My final collection uses illustration to create bright and daring garments to express how important our clothing and style is. Our clothing speaks for us, and it is normally the first thing people see. By choosing our own style and stepping out of our comfort zones we show part of our identity without knowing. I capture this by using colour and emotion to express how we feel when we put on these garments we love. As a designer I leave traces of my own identity throughout these pieces in my final collection.
