I am a womenswear designer. Conceptually driven narratives being simultaneously juxtaposed and arrayed with nostalgia and the contemporary lay the foundation for designs that cater towards the body. Often beginning with already existent transgressions that exist themselves by nature of society, I like to explore these in my work and apply this constant new-found aspect of liminality. In applying this cross-over between the likes of Catholic Irish womenswear and the child-bride like best-friends from my communion, with who they are and what they wear today; it offers my design process a conscious element of satire. Something which has no deviation from my work as of recent is the application of inclusivity and diversity for the body. This is something that is a definitive coexistent to these transgressions that I explore. Generating my own block patterns as a starting point, silhouette and shape derive from a concentration on fit and comfort for the body I am designing for. Marrying this to the redundant idea of a twenty-two year old's slinky communion dress at Easter. I want to design and make for these women I look up to whilst creating this liminal space that I aim to portray, and a want to be in it.
