"Dillon Conway is a photographer with a keen interest in looking at political and social issues. His ""Shibboleth"" series takes a look at life after ""The Troubles"". "The Troubles" is a term that fills many Northern Irish people with anxiety. It is a title given to a 30-year span of Northern Ireland's history wherein a low-level civil war took place all over the country resulting in the deaths of over 3,500 people.
Northern Ireland has come a long way since the ending of The Troubles in 1998 but there is still segregation within the country today. Shibboleth looks at one of the biggest causes of contempt within the 2 main communities of Northern Ireland, the name of its second-largest city through a trivial means - road signs.
The work focuses on the road signs along the main roads of Northern Ireland as they act as a window through which anyone can see the underlying issues that are often brushed over. "
