As we currently face a planet emergency this collection embodies fashion for the future by preparing for the inevitable global climate crisis. My collection acts as a homage to the years of hard work charities such as saint Vincent de Paul have done for those less fortunate, especially in times of hardship. My garments aim to reduce the creation of scrap material by investigating patchwork techniques and utilising pre-owned items from SVP charity shops, thinking responsibly throughout the design process to create a sustainability conscious and coherent collection. These designs are two conflated styles- the romatic style of the 19th century, combined with a more practical and outdoor ready aesthetic. Corsetry appears throughout as a function of both layering and styling. Adjustable fastenings and reverable pieces are also a main feature. By collaborating with SVP, I have created upcycled garments from fabrics donated through their charity shops. Combining feminine design, sustainability and outdoor functionality, this seasonless collection explores how garments can be made adaptable and interchangeable.
