"Hello, my name is Conor Fadden I was born in London and moved to Belfast when I was 13 and throughout my time at Ulster University, I have always advocated and designed with change in mind, whether that be a small adjustment to how someone would live or change the way we see and act towards certain things. This is no different when I began designing Flow. I began with the initial idea of changing peoples perceptions surrounding water and waste. I found that only 3% of the entire worlds water supply is fit for human consumption and 2% of this is frozen. This was alarming when you consider that the average person in Northern Ireland used 145lt per day. I created Flow as an elegant solution to this water issue, it is designed to be an advanced Water flow meter with device-specific diagnostics all being centrally linked to an application where the user can access all the information necessary to make relevant changes. The premise behind this was to educate people as to how much water they use at home however out of 95 European cities (85% of them in the European Union) Belfast is one of the only ones that does not have domestic water charges in place. So an alternative incentive programme was put in place allowing for vouchers and discount codes to be given if the user reaches their goal. I believe that something like this can make a real difference and fight back against the water crisis that we could soon find ourselves in."
